News and Announcements
One of our Bruins families has suffered a terrible tragedy.
There was a fire at their home last night and they have lost everything. Thankfully, no one was hurt in the fire but they will need our community’s help to rebuild their lives and move forward.
The Samms family has been volunteering with Winfield Minor Hockey for many years. Jenn and Nate are both always eager to help, and have dedicated countless hours to Winfield Minor Hockey.
There is a GoFundMe page set up, the link is below. Please copy and paste it into your browser if it doesn’t open directly.
In respect of the pressures their family is facing, please direct any emails regarding volunteering questions, team questions etc to me and I will do my best to help you.

Welcome to the start of the 2020-2021 season.
While hockey procedures may look a little different this year, please be patient and understand we are doing our best to keep everyone safe and deliver a positive experience for all.
A bit of housekeeping to start, my apologies if this seems lengthy but we really need to cover everything well to ensure safety of our participants and continuation of the minor hockey program.
-If your player is exhibiting any signs or symptoms of illness, please keep them home.
-All players must arrive dressed with the exception of skates, gloves and helmets and ready to enter the building 15 minutes prior to their icetime. You must use the Main arena doors under the Winfield arena sign (East side of the building)
-Junior Division players (U7 formerly Initiation,U9 formerly Novice ) will be accompanied by one adult (including coaches and volunteers) One adult per player, no siblings allowed.
-Upon entering the building please turn to the right and head down the hallway to the Players COVID screening person, there will be socially distance markers (white squares) for you to line up on with your child. Please read the signs in the posted in the hallway to expedite the screening process. Once screened you can head to the dressing room and put their skates on. All adults must wear masks in the dressing rooms. As soon as you are done getting them ready, please head through the spectators entrance to the viewing area.
Players head to the right and wait on the white dots for screening, spectators wait on the black dots for screening-In each dressing room there are marked seating spots which have been pre-measured for safety. At all times the players are to remain six feet apart. Once the coaches are ready, they will assist the kids(Junior Div) onto the ice surface. All players are to maintain social distancing until they reach the field of play (ice surface).
-If your Junior player needs to use the washroom, they will be escorted by the Coach to the ice door nearest the Spectators and you can take your child to the washroom and deliver them back to the ice.
-At the end of the practice, players will return to the dressing rooms, please go directly there to help take their skates off if they need help and then leave the building .
-We have no more than 15 minutes to clear the building for cleaning and to let the next group in so please bear this in mind.
Until we have approval from ViaSport, BC Hockey and the public health authority we will be having practices only, we look forward to progressing through the Return To Play process and adding games as soon as possible.
There will be no hockey practices Thanksgiving weekend Oct 10,11,12.
We will be needing several volunteers from each team to ensure this season runs as smoothly as possible, please reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator Jennifer Samms if you can assist in being a team COVID Ambassador at firstname.lastname@example.org .
We look forward to getting everyone back on the ice in a safe, responsible manner so they can finally have some fun !!!

Our AGM was held via Zoom Wednesday August 19th. Thank you to everyone who took the time to attend.
All of our Executive Members who were up for re-election chose to let their name stand for another term, so our Board will remain the same for the upcoming season.
