News and Announcements
With the PHA announcement yesterday that things will be remaining the same until January 8th, we will be working with the attached weekend schedules for the next two weeks and then breaking Dec 20th for Christmas.
Regular weekday schedules will resume Monday January 4th.
We will not be having practices over the Christmas break.
Coaches, please remember we are still in Phase 2 until further notice. No contact, scrimmages or 3 on 3 until we have further advice from Viasport. Please make sure your players are wearing their masks in the dressing rooms, they listen best to you !
Thank you you everyone who is doing their part to adhere to our protocols, we are very fortunate to still be able to have the level of participation that we do and I’m hopeful for good things to come in the New Year.
Many thanks to all the volunteers who are helping keep our kids skates on the ice. It takes a village to get through a hockey season…..and a pandemic it seems !!
We will be sending out updates as we receive them over the Christmas break.
Wishing you all a safe and healthy holiday season.

This is never the kind of email I want to be sending but as most of you are probably already aware we have been told we must return to Phase 2 Restrictions.
“Structured child and youth programs and sport are permitted, but must meet and follow the ViaSport Phase 2 requirements.”
While this is disappointing, I am very thankful our kids are still able to maintain their icetimes and can continue with practicing hockey.
We have been told that Viasport will update the Phase 2 guidelines next week but for now we need to follow what we have been given.
Coaches, Phase 2 is basically non contact skills and drills. I will update as soon as we have any further clarification.
U7 – you will continue on as before, we have renamed you “U7 Division” simply because your numbers are low enough to be considered one team and therefore you can continue to practice together as a group. You can still have one adult per player in the building. Masks AND social distancing is necessary.
U9 – you will now be one team per icetime, one adult per player is still allowed in the building. Masks AND social distancing is necessary.
U11- BC Hockey has decided that any individuals helping with tying skates must have all the same requirements as a full team staff member. Therefore from today forward (until we have our skate ty-ers qualified) the team staff will need to step in and tie skates for those who need it. CA’s are not permitted to tie skates unless they have completed all of their qualifications as well. I’m sorry, I totally understand this isn’t ideal but we’ll have all those kiddos doing their own skates in no time !!!
U13- you will continue on as before, we have renamed you “U13 Division” simply because your numbers are low enough to be considered one team and therefore you can continue to practice together as a group.
U15 and U18 – you will continue on as you have been.
Weekday practices will continue as scheduled.
As always, our contact tracing is very important. Please make sure your forms are filled out correctly and all participants are wearing masks when they don’t have their helmets on.
As soon as Viasport, BCPRA and BC Hockey release any further information I will let you know.

We have very important updates to inform everyone of, please take note of these points so we can carry forward in a smooth manner and do what’s best for our kids and our community.
As per Nov 19th’s announcement from the Public Health Authority we are continuing on at the Phase 3 level until Dec 7th, games can only be played within our own association.
Our screening questions and safety plan have been updated, please see the website for the new screening questions. These questions have been updated in accordance with the District Of Lake Country’s COVID safety protocols and are based off the BC Public Health Authority Screening tool. If you answer YES to ANY of these questions, you will not be permitted entry to the building.
U7 and U9 can carry on as they have been, with one attending adult per player for essential support allowed in the arena.
U11 will no longer be allowed an attending adult per player in the building. Team staff, 2 COVID ambassador’s and 4 skate tying volunteers will be allowed into the building for each icetime. Your volunteer coordinator will make a rotation so that everyone can have a chance to help. Please remember that there is always to be two adults together in the dressing room, one adult cannot enter the dressing room alone.
U13 Rec will carry on as they have been, their weekend ice slots can be used for games between each other because they are in the same cohort and community.
U13 T3 will be practices only.
U15 T3 and U15 Rec will be practices only.
U18 T3 and U18 Rec will be practices only.
Regular weekday practices will continue as scheduled, this weekend’s (Nov 28-29) schedule is attached. I will update again Monday Nov 30th.
As always, please do not attend the arena if your player or yourself is not feeling well.
As per Viasport and the Provincial Health Authority, all games outside of Winfield Minor Hockey are suspended. All weekend icetimes for Nov 21-22 will be practices.
This does not affect U7 and U9, you will carry on exactly as your schedule says.
Practice protocols for all teams will remain the same , they will be updated Tuesday after consultation with the District facilities manager.
