News and Announcements
Please understand that this could be subject to change at anytime but the District is working very diligently to ensure we are able to deliver a positive experience for our youth while adhering to the Interior Health guidelines. It is very important to understand that the Interior Health guidelines supersede the PHO and we must make sure we are in line with the stricter of them. We also must note that we are users of the facility, and must abide by the guidelines they require.
As of Sept 15th, we will NOT be requiring proof of vaccine to enter the building but we will be following Interior Health’s contact tracing procedures. All persons will be required to wear a mask, players must wear masks until they put on their helmets.
We will still be at one spectator per player, we have a very strict maximum of 50 persons allowed outside the field of play. All persons involved in the event (Coaches, players, refs, timekeepers) will be marked on the sheet already and do not have to provide info. All spectators will be required to provide their name and phone number to the Facility Ambassadors. We will need Facility Ambassadors for each event, you will hear more from our volunteer Co-ordinator Jennifer Samms regarding that role.
For U11 and up, Coaches, players, and team staff will be allowed in the building 30 minutes prior to their icetime. They are to proceed directly to their dressing room, there will be no persons allowed in the halls at anytime. Coaches and team staff will need to be on hand to tie skates for those who need help while ensuring they are following the “two-deep” rule in the dressing room . (Meaning there must be at least two adults in the dressing room, no single adult is to enter or be in a dressing room alone) One person will be designated to fill water bottles. Spectators will be allowed into the building 5 minutes prior to the event start time and must proceed directly to the stands. At the end of the event, spectators are to leave the building immediately, players will have 15 minutes to remove their skates and be out the doors to facilitate smooth entry for the next group.
For U7 and U9, players and their accompanying can enter the building 30 minutes before start time. Parents are allowed to accompany their player into the dressing room to help get them ready and then must go directly to the stands. At the end of the event, please proceed directly to the dressing room and leave the building as quickly as possible.
Hopefully this is clear for everyone, if you have any questions let me know.

Please note there are changes to the Jr Division practice times. It is a bit different for the Jr Division this year as we have had so many new registrants, which is great but we have had to make some adjustments in order to give as many kids as possible an opportunity to play.
Practices start Monday Sept 27th, I will send out COVID procedures closer to that date. We will be having U7 evaluation skates the weekend of Sept 25 and 26th to ensure the teams are as even as possible. Details on that will be sent out in the next week or so.

We will be going ahead with our Summer Skills camp at the end of August as we normally do, from Aug 30th-Sept 2nd. One hour sessions with a maximum of 20 participants on each group. We will run U18, U15, U13 and U11 groups. The cost is $100.00 and the registration form is attached. Please scan back to me (as an attachment not in the body of the email ) or drop through the mail slot.

It’s that time of year, where we start looking onwards and upwards towards next season. I have attached the 2021-2022 Registration documents, there are a few very important things to note.
-As of right now, we will be processing paper registrations only, you must fill out a paper registration form and scan it to firstname.lastname@example.org or drop it off through the mail slot of the hockey office door. All registration paperwork needs to be filled out completely, with payment attached (not to be processed until Aug 1st) and all required documentation signed to be considered complete. Hockey Canada is doing an overhaul of their online registration system and are “expecting” to be up and running by the end of June, but that doesn’t give us enough time to ensure we have everything prepared for the season.
-If your player is U15 or U18 and wanting to try out for a BC Hockey or Omaha Zone team, your managers have sent you that information and link already. Your player MUST also be registered with your home association (WDMHA) prior to participation in those tryouts so please make sure you have their registration completed here as well. We will not hold spots for anyone who has not registered with us.
-Our numbers are increasing every year but our capacity does not, we will be full in some divisions. We open registration to new members June 1st, please register early so we can accommodate all returning players before accepting new ones. Rates increase by $100.00 July 1st so please make sure to take advantage of the early rate.
-We have had to implement a rate increase this year to cover rising costs, as well as losing a significant income source from our previous affiliation with Pursuit of Excellence Academy. In order to help members with that increase, we have not charged the Volunteer Bond fee. We do of course, still expect that each family will help out with facilitating the season for your team. Without volunteers, we have no program.
Thanks to everyone for their patience as we navigated this unparalled season. Everyone put the kids first and made the best of a crazy situation. I appreciate that very much.
Have an amazing summer, we’re looking forward to a great season next year !!

With the PHA announcement yesterday that things will be remaining the same until January 8th, we will be working with the attached weekend schedules for the next two weeks and then breaking Dec 20th for Christmas.
Regular weekday schedules will resume Monday January 4th.
We will not be having practices over the Christmas break.
Coaches, please remember we are still in Phase 2 until further notice. No contact, scrimmages or 3 on 3 until we have further advice from Viasport. Please make sure your players are wearing their masks in the dressing rooms, they listen best to you !
Thank you you everyone who is doing their part to adhere to our protocols, we are very fortunate to still be able to have the level of participation that we do and I’m hopeful for good things to come in the New Year.
Many thanks to all the volunteers who are helping keep our kids skates on the ice. It takes a village to get through a hockey season…..and a pandemic it seems !!
We will be sending out updates as we receive them over the Christmas break.
Wishing you all a safe and healthy holiday season.
